PESD Moving to A.L.I.C.E. for Crisis Response
Over the past few months staff have been trained on new methods of response to crisis situations. In the next few weeks students will be trained on this new approach that has been adopted throughout Wood County by school districts and law enforcement. The link below has a letter that further explains A.L.I.C.E. More information will be added to the district website over the next few weeks on this system.

Kindergarten & 4K Registration Week

FEBRUARY 20-24, 2017

Kindergarten and 4K registration for the 2017-2018 school year will take place February 20-24.  Registration materials will be available in the Elementary School Office at 951 5th Street from 7:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Please bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization records.  Children must be 4 or 5 years old on or before September 1, 2017 to be eligible in the fall.

 4K & 5K PARENT ORIENTATIONS

FEBRUARY 20, 2016

An orientation meeting for parents of incoming 5-year-old kindergartners will be held from 5:00-5:30 p.m. in the kindergarten classroom at the Port Edwards Elementary School, 951 5th Street.  The 4K parents will have their orientation meeting at 5:15p.m. in the Port Elementary library.  Parents will be given a brief overview of their child’s school day and have the opportunity to ask questions.

OPEN ENROLLMENT

Public school open enrollment in Wisconsin officially begins on February 6th for the 2017-18 school year.  Parents and students who are interested in open enrolling their student(s) into the Port Edwards School District are welcome to tour our schools.  Please contact either the elementary office or the middle/high school office to set up a time to explore what Port Edwards has to offer. More information on the open enrollment process is provided below.

Guidance for Parents and Guardians

  • Parents and guardians may complete open enrollment applications online at http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. The online application will be available from midnight Feb. 6 until 4 p.m. on April 28, 2017.
  • Parents are limited to no more than three applications to nonresident school districts for each child during the open enrollment application period.
  • Applications must be filled out completely and accurately. Contact the local school district office or the DPI if assistance is needed in completing the application.
  • Parents may request enrollment in a specific school or program in the nonresident school district; however, enrollment is subject to space and other limitations and is not guaranteed.
  • Parents may apply for their children to attend 4-yearold kindergarten under open enrollment only if the resident school district also offers a 4-year-old kindergarten program for which the child is eligible

 

 

Our Policy

It is the policy of the School District of Port Edwards that no person may be denied admission to any public school in this district or be denied participation in, be denied benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil service, recreational, or other program or activity because of the person’s sex, national origin, color, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability or handicap, as required by s.118.13, Wis. Stats.

This policy also prohibits discrimination as defined by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race and national origin), and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The district encourages informal resolutions of complaints under this policy. A formal complaint resolution procedure is available, however, to address allegations of violations of the policy in the School District of Port Edwards. Any questions concerning this policy should be directed to the District Administrator of the Port Edwards Public Schools.
