Welcome to Blackhawk Country

The members of the Port Edwards Public School Community believe that we offer a unique and competitive educational opportunity. Nestled along the Wisconsin River our village and surrounding townships offer a family friendly atmosphere. We serve our youth and residents through a beautiful park system, intercity bike trails, and a community YMCA.

This small suburban school district has a dedicated staff and an open flexible attitude toward instructional innovation. These qualities are key and allow us to address the academic and social needs of every student in an academy-like atmosphere.

District News
New to the District

Families that have recently moved into the district are encouraged to register their school-aged children as soon as possible. For students in grades 4K-5, stop by the Elementary School Office, or call Mrs. Taylor at 715-887-9070. For students in grades 6-12, please stop by the Middle/High School Office or call Mrs. Kleifgen at 715-887-9000, ext. 109.

Orientation Packets/Picture Day

Parents are encouraged to return the Back-To-School Night orientation packet forms to their student’s teacher on the first day of school, or no later than Friday, September 5th.  School Picture days are approaching fast: September 9 for the ES and September 10 for the MS/HS. Picture day order forms and payments will be required on the day the photos are taken.

Before and After School Care

Port Edwards School District offers before and after school care for elementary school students. Students in grades 4K-5 may attend the Morning Reading Program at the Elementary School IMC Monday-Friday beginning at 7:00 a.m.at no cost to families. At the end of each school day, Port Edwards Elementary hosts a site for the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Wisconsin Rapids Area. Students aged 6-12 may attend activities from 3:12-6:00 p.m. Membership fee is $10 per year.

Our Policy

It is the policy of the School District of Port Edwards that no person may be denied admission to any public school in this district or be denied participation in, be denied benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil service, recreational, or other program or activity because of the person’s sex, national origin, color, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability or handicap, as required by s.118.13, Wis. Stats.

This policy also prohibits discrimination as defined by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race and national origin), and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The district encourages informal resolutions of complaints under this policy. A formal complaint resolution procedure is available, however, to address allegations of violations of the policy in the School District of Port Edwards. Any questions concerning this policy should be directed to the District Administrator of the Port Edwards Public Schools.
