Welcome to Blackhawk Country

The members of the Port Edwards Public School Community believe that we offer a unique and competitive educational opportunity. Nestled along the Wisconsin River our village and surrounding townships offer a family friendly atmosphere. We serve our youth and residents through a beautiful park system, intercity bike trails, and a community YMCA.

This small suburban school district has a dedicated staff and an open flexible attitude toward instructional innovation. These qualities are key and allow us to address the academic and social needs of every student in an academy-like atmosphere.

Port Edwards Significantly Exceeds Expectations on District and School Report Cards Issued by the Department of Public Instruction

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction issued the District and School Report Cards on November 17 and the results are very promising for the Port Edwards School District.  As a district, Port Edwards received the designation of Significantly Exceeds Expectations.  Additionally, the Port Edwards Elementary and John Edwards Middle School also received the same designation on the school level report cards.  John Edwards High School received an Alternate Rating of Satisfactory Progress.  The reason for JEHS being issued an Alternate Rating is due to the small sample size.  Due to there being less than 20 students last year in grade 11, the normal report card is not issued.  The actual report cards and a link to the DPI Report Card website are included with this article.

Our Policy

It is the policy of the School District of Port Edwards that no person may be denied admission to any public school in this district or be denied participation in, be denied benefits of, or be discriminated against in any curricular, extracurricular, pupil service, recreational, or other program or activity because of the person’s sex, national origin, color, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability or handicap, as required by s.118.13, Wis. Stats.

This policy also prohibits discrimination as defined by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race and national origin), and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The district encourages informal resolutions of complaints under this policy.
